This is my first time to spend my holy week in Iloilo. Obviously, I wasn't able to get a ticket home.

Maundy Thursday, Choi called me and ask if I want to go with him and Nini to Alimodian. Since I don't have anything to do, I decided to go.

When we set foot in Alimodian, we were greeted by a crowd going to Agony Hill. Our itinerary was just to visit Nini's relatives but we were talking of trekking up Agony Hill. And then, boom! Off to the hill!

Agony Hill is a small hill in the town of Alimodian, Iloilo. This is a famous place every holy week. Before reaching the top of the hill, there are stations of the cross along the way where people pray and do penance. A 2-3 hour trek before the peak of the hill. There are also statues of saints in every stations that narrate actual station of the cross.

There were five of us who went to the hill. Choi, Nini, Me and Nini's two cousins. A large number of people was trekking with us. There were lots of rolling stores where you can buy snacks and drinks.

Upon reaching the peak of the hill, there were nothing much to see but people taking rests and cooling off. Nice scenery can be seen much during the trek since there are trees sorrouding the peak.

I saw some small group of people praying and seriously meditating in each station. Some were just trekking for the sake of trekking and visiting the hill. I, too, cannot get a personal time in each stations or in between because of the scorching heat of the sun and the noisy crowd trekking with us.

Agony as the hiil's name. We experienced the "agony" of trekking, crowded environment, heat of the sun and noisy people.

Best time to go here is when everybody is busy in the town and this means, it is not on a holy week.
